Sustainability Impact via Client Services
Where KES makes its biggest environmental impact is through building optimization and efficiency in high-energy commercial environments:
HVAC Commissioning: Poorly balanced heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems consume vast amounts of excess electricity. KES commissions HVAC systems to BSRIA and CSA standards, ensuring systems run at optimal thermodynamic efficiency, reducing unnecessary power load.
Water Treatment: Proper chemical water treatment, filtration, and pipework flushing prevent scale build-up and corrosion. Clean, properly treated water loops require significantly less energy to pump and heat/cool, while also extending the lifespan of critical system.
Heat Load Testing: Before powering up data halls, load testing allows verification that cooling infrastructure works precisely as designed. This avoids energy hotspots and prevents hyper-scale data centers from over-cooling facilities “just in case,” saving substantial amounts of energy.

Founded in 2002, King Environmental Services (KES) specialises in operational validation for the data centre industry. We act as the technical bridge between a facility’s construction and live operation, helping ensure mission-critical cooling and related systems perform to design before they go into service.
Large-scale heat load testing uses air and liquid load banks to simulate real-world thermal stress before live IT load is introduced. It helps verify design capacity, identify hotspots, prove redundancy, and confirm cooling and electrical paths remain stable under load — particularly important for high-density AI and HPC facilities.
Pre-commissioning flushing removes construction debris, welding slag, and other contaminants before systems go live. That protects pumps, chillers, coils, and valves; restores free flow; supports design heat transfer; and provides a clean baseline for effective long-term water treatment — using methods aligned with BSRIA, ASHRAE, and international industry standards.
Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB) measures and adjusts air and water flow rates so installed systems meet design intent. Independent TAB helps confirm thermal stability, improve energy efficiency, protect equipment within manufacturer limits, and provide documented evidence for handover, warranties, and ongoing operations — in line with BSRIA, CIBSE, and ASHRAE guidance.
